Where to stay in South Florida
South Florida can be intimidating. Not sure where to stay? Here are my favorite sections - the ins and outs. You will surely find a good fit for you!
Fort Lauderdale
When visiting south florida, i always suggest staying in fort lauderdale. i lived in fort lauderdale for many years and there is so much to do there! You’re 20 minutes from the hardrock, 12 minutes from the airport, it’s safe, fun & something to do for everyone.
Fort Lauderdale Beach is one of the world’s most famous beaches with great restaurants and an amazing view. Pictured here is las olas (downtown fort lauderdale). it’s a busy town but with access to great spots on the water & less traffic and hustle than miami.
Hollywood
hollywood is your closest thing to a beach town in south florida. It’s about 13 minutes from the fort lauderdale airport. the boardwalk is great, tons of beach access, a quaint downtown aera, entertainment and ideally located between fort lauderdale & miami. Margaritaville is ideally located on the boardwalk, surrounded by many great bars and restaurants.
Miami Beach
If you’re coming down for the full miami experience, i recommend staying in miami beach. it’s a short 15 minute car ride from miami international airport. it’s very tourist like, but if you want the nightlife, excursions, and action - then this is your place.
the famous south beach is here too. however be careful - it really isn’t the safest place anymore. Clevelander is a must. wynwood is close, just over the bridge.
Downtown Miami.Brickell.Wynwood
about 10 minutes from miami international airport, this is another area where you’ll get a good taste of miami. Downtown gives you a typical skyscraper vibe, brickell has some awesome restaurants and wynwood is a fan favorite.
Wynwood is home to art galleries, retail stores, antique shops, eclectic bars, artisanal eateries and open-air street-art installations. definately something to see if you’re a newbie here.
